Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas You’ll Thank Us For

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Check out these great Thanksgiving decorating ideas from Caroline von Weyher of Von Haus interior design in Birmingham. (You can check out her Facebook page for more info on her designs here).

1. Centerpieces are out and “tablescapes” are in. Tablescaping simply refers to using an assortment of varying height items to adorn your table, rather than one, boring cornucopia in
the center of your table. The best thing about tablescapes is they are super easy to do, and can often be made with decorative items you already have in your home.

2. She suggests using seasonal fruits and vegetables (such as pears, apples, squash, eggplant, and even nuts and beans) to dress your table. These real fruits and veggies add color and texture to the table and are affordable and convenient since you’re already heading to the store to buy your turkey anyways. Use beans and willow branches to fill vases and urns on the table for an affordable, yet stunning tablescape.

3. Don’t make the false assumption that you are stuck with browns and oranges for your color palate when decorating for Thanksgiving. Black and white is always glamorous and you can use silver accent pieces to add a bit of “bling” to your table. Clip feathered birds from the craft store onto your plates or napkin rings to add another elegant touch that is so easy and inexpensive. She also suggests making topiaries out of silver candlesticks and moss balls for a unique spin on the decor.

4. Recycle your Halloween decorations and re-use them for Thanksgiving. Any gourds or pumpkins that weren’t carved into jack-o-lanterns are still appropriate for the season. Silk sunflower topiaries, fall fruits, and earthy table linens will pull the look together. You can also use an old birdcage to create a rustic tablescape that will impress your guests.

5. We know we already mentioned this trick, but it is so simple and so effective, we wanted to remind you to vary the height of your tabletop decor to add visual interest. You can use pillar candle holders, which you probably already own, and place glass votive holders on top of them instead of pillar candles. Using footed cake plates and footed bowls also help to elevate a
grouping of candles or other decorative items.

Furniture Solutions For The Traveling Nurse

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Attention men and women of the Travel Nursing Industry: are you dealing with less-than-ideal short-term housing options as you travel around the country for work? If this sounds familiar, you need to tell your company about Furniture Rental in San Diego for fast and affordable furniture solutions.

In the 1980’s, a serious shortage of nurses across the country prompted the development of the travel nursing industry. What began as a short-term solution to meet nurse staffing needs, is now an exceptional solution to the ongoing staffing needs at facilities across the nation. Although the travel nursing industry was not immune to the current recession, it was much less affected than many other types of businesses in the country. Some travel nursing and recruitment agencies did go out of business, but the need for nurses is still prevalent and the demand much greater with the recent pass of health care reform.

With the current nursing shortage in the United States, you know that your job can take you almost anywhere with not very much advance notice. This means you have hardly any time to set up comfortable housing for yourself at your destination, and when corporate housing is not an option, furniture rental can be the perfect solution.

In an article on Advertising Age, the benefits of renting in the current economy, rather than buying, were discussed. “There’s a trend of people leasing more than buying outright,” said Stephen Hahn-Griffiths, chief strategy officer at well-known advertising agency Leo Burnett. Mr. Griffiths was also quoted saying that he expects the rental trend to continue beyond cars and apartments: “I would even expect to see an increase in furniture rental“, he said.

Furniture rental in San Diego is a fast way to fill your temporary housing with comfortable furniture that fits within your budget. You can furnish an entire house, or a small apartment, whatever your needs may be. And we don’t just offer the furniture, but the accessories as well, so make your home away from home as comfortable as possible and enjoy your stay, wherever you may be.
